When the BeGlow Tia All-in-One Sonic Skin Care System (mouthful much?) arrived, I just assumed it was another cleansing brush, but I was very very wrong.
Now before I get into the ins and outs of this little beauty, I’m going to address the price. Be warned ladies, this is not purse friendly. At £199.00 this is definitely a luxury purchase but after a few months of putting this to the test, I can see why it is so expensive.
I’ve deliberately taken my time testing this out as I’d hate to recommend something so pricey without having thoroughly putting it to the test. I’m going to be honest, this is not a necessity … you don’t need this in your life. However, if you’re a lady of a certain age, or have concerns about sagging as well as cleansing and you can afford it, then go for it.
Whilst there are other colours available, I love the fact that mine is pink. Not that the colour makes any difference to the performance, but a bit of pink always makes me happy.
So you might be wondering exactly what the BeGlow Tia is. It’s an all-in-one nifty little gadget that cleanses, lifts and tones the appearance of the skin. I’ve used many cleansing brushes before so I knew what to expect from that side of things, but it was the lifting and toning that really intrigued me.
First up, let’s look at the cleansing aspect.
The device is fully waterproof so you can use it in the bath or shower without worrying. The silicone brush head is replaceable and doesn’t feel hard against the skin and can be easily cleaned. It works to be more thorough than manual cleansing and removes impurities to leave your skin feeling fresh and decongested. I’ve been getting a couple of really blocked pores recently and I’ve noticed an improvement since using this twice a day for cleansing.
You take your cleanser and apply to the silicone brush head. Using the BeGlow Tia will enhance the effects of your cleanser. Once the device hits your skin (after you’ve turned it on), the pulsation starts. You can adjust the pulsation depending on what you prefer. It took a bit of getting used to as I’m more used to brushes with long soft bristles that really foam up your cleansers. However, this feels like it is really cleansing deep down into your skin. I then just rinse away with a damp face cloth.
Then there’s the anti-ageing and contouring effects.
The Tia delivers both low and high frequency pulsations. These pulsations help to increase both the strength and the definition of the facial muscles, especially around the jawline and the cheekbones. As I’ve gotten older and gained weight, my jawline has all but disappeared. Instead of the strong jawline I used to have, I’ve now got several Harold Bishop like chins and it’s all a bit … jowly. I seriously hate it and I am quite self conscious about it. Whilst I am trying to lose weight, I know that I need to work on reducing the chins and firming up my jaw.
There’s gentle SkinSense technology which allows the pulsation to build on contact with the skin. The titanium applicator has anti-ageing benefits and encourages healthy circulation. This leaves the skin looking more radiant and energised. Using the second control button, you press the titanium plate against the areas where wrinkles are a concern. The pulsation will increase the circulation of blood, reduce the visibility of pores and enhance the absorption of your skincare products.
Once your skin is cleansed and your wrinkles are at bay, you can get to work on the chin(s). By pressing both control buttons together for 3 seconds, the lifting mode begins. Again, press the titanium plate against the problem areas and let the Tia do the work. So far I have noticed a slight improvement to my jawline, but I do think once I’ve lost some of the weight, I will see the benefits of this aspect of the Tia even more.
I’ve really enjoyed using this and now can’t imagine my skincare routine without it. My other cleansing brushes have been put in a drawer and I’ve been using this religiously twice a day. As I’ve said, this isn’t a necessity, especially not if you’re young and your skin hasn’t started sagging, but for me, it’s perfect.
You can purchase the BeGlow Tia from Net-a-Porter.
