I’ve been putting the Drunk Elephant The Littles to the test for the past month and I think it’s only right to share my thoughts. I got very excited when it was announced that Drunk Elephant would be available in the UK, and Mick got me the set for my birthday last month.
For £71.00, you get a bag with 7 of their products. Now even though it is called The Littles, I hadn’t been expecting them to be quite so small (they’re bloody tiny!), but there is enough product to get a feel for them and help you decide whether you want to take out a second mortgage for the full size versions.
If you’re interested in Drunk Elephant’s philosophy when it comes to their ingredients, then there’s a lot of information on their website to fill you in. I’m not a chemist, so I don’t go too deep when it comes to ingredients … I go off how the product works for me.
C-Firma Day Serum
I love serums, and if they firm up my skin and brighten it at the same time, then I’m going to really love it. This is full of antioxidants, nutrients and fruit enzymes to work its magic on your complexion. Pomegranate extract works to remove dead skin and make your pores less visible whilst pumpkin extract (with marula oil), gives you antioxidant protection. Thanks to Sodium Hyaluronate it has fast absorption into the skin, and it can be used on your face, neck, hands and chest. I’ve been enjoying using this a lot. I have a lot of serums and need to use some of them up, but if I didn’t then I’d be very tempted by the full size of this even though it’s hella expensive (£67.00).
Marula Luxury Facial Oil
Facial oils make me happy which probably makes me sound really sad but I don’t mind – I love them. I didn’t want to like this one at all as the full size is £61.00, but I can’t say a bad word against this. It is nice and light and perfect for if you’re starting to worry about the signs of ageing. I have noticed my lines are looking less noticeable and my skin is definitely feeling more supple and nourished. The oil contains vitamin E, Omegas 6 and 9 and flavonoids and provides hydration, moisture and firmer skin. As much as I am trying to resist ordering the full size, I know that I am weak and it will end up being ordered sooner or later.
B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum
Another serum that I’m a little bit in love with, this is the one for you if this cold weather is leaving you with a dull and dry complexion. Containing vitamin B5, this serum moisturises, brightens and leaves your skin feeling so smooth that you will basically want to stroke it all day. You get 24 hour hydration without any irritation thanks to a complex of barberry extract, natural lentil, apple and rind. This serum has been brilliant for when I’ve been in and out of the cold all day. The full size is £44.00, so this is a real contender for when I can justify buying more serums.
T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum
Oh God I loved this and I really didn’t want to as I’m pretty loyal to my Sunday Riley Luna, but this deserves a place in my life just as much. It contains 12% AHA and BHA as well as raspberry extract and salicylic acid and it is a nighttime wonder. The serum smoothes and polishes your skin whilst you’re asleep so you wake up with a clear complexion. This allows other products to perform better too. Even though it works to exfoliate the skin, it doesn’t leave it dry or irritated. Now I have a dilemma … I have a LOT of bottles of Luna to use up, so do I spend between £76.00 and £113.00 on this? Someone come take my bank card away.
Shaba Complex Eye Serum
This eye serum works to refresh, soothe, boost elasticity and reduce discolouration and it is really nice. Nice enough for me to spend £50.00 on the full size? Probably not. Whilst I do like it, I can’t say it’s any better than other eye products that I already use. I did like how well it reduced the puffiness I get in the morning though and that’s thanks to the addition of citrus plant-derived bioflavonoids, which are known for their anti-inflammatory properties. I’ve still got some of this left, so I will keep using it and maybe I will fall in love with it.
Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser
Now we get to the one product that I haven’t enjoyed using at all. I know people who rave about this cleanser but for me, it was a miss. It contains glycerine, virgin marula oil and Omegas 3 and 9 and provides the skin with antioxidants, hydration and moisturisation. It did remove my makeup and leave my face feeling nice and clean but I just can’t get on with the formula. It’s a fairly thick gel and I did find that my skin felt a little tight whenever I used it. I much prefer the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser, but if you like the sound of this, it’s fairly priced at £29.00 for the full size.
Lala Retro Whipped Cream
Let’s finish on a product that I have adored using. I have a lot of moisturisers that I love and this one is now firmly in that category. A blend of oils offer moisturisation and soothing to dry areas of the skin whilst passion fruit helps to brighten the skin tone. The formula is nice and light but leaves your skin feeling so unbelievably soft – I’m obsessed with it. It’s £50.00 for a full size pot, which I think is fair as I don’t mind spending a bit more on good moisturisers. My skin feels amazing every single time I use this and for me it is one of the stand out products of the set.
So if you fancy trying out Drunk Elephant, this set is the perfect way to get a feel for the products. I’m definitely interested in trying out more from them. You can get The Littles from Space NK and Cult Beauty.
