Guerlain L’Or is one of those products that as soon as you see it, you remember it. Who wouldn’t be drawn in by a bottle of gold? There seems to be a few products infused with gold flakes these days, but this is the one I really wanted to try.
So other than looking very pretty on your dressing table, what exactly is Guerlain L’Or? Basically, it’s a primer … a very very pretty primer. If you want a radiant complexion, then this is the primer you need to try – those gold flakes aren’t just for decoration.
All throughout the hydrating gel of the primer, there are 24-carat gold flakes. These have been crafted into ultra-sparkling and ultra-reflective particles, designed to make your complexion glow. At this time of year, so many of us are suffering from dry and dull skin, so products that add a bit of glow and life back into our complexions are a Godsend.
What has also really impressed me with this, other than the radiance, is how good this makes my skin feel. The flu left my skin feeling uncomfortably tight and so dry that even putting makeup on has been a bit difficult. However, I wanted to try this, so I put it to the test and I’m so glad I didn’t wait.
After a few days of using this, I decided to really put it to the test. For a full week, Guerlain L’Or was the only primer I used. I stuck to a simple skincare routine in the morning of cleanse, tone and moisturise and then applied the primer.
From the start I noticed how hydrated my skin was feeling. As soon as the gel hits the skin, it starts to sink in but the moisture is retained. Pretty much from the first use you can feel the benefits of this product. By the end of the week, my skin felt so much more supple and smooth. My lines were a lot less noticeable, and whilst my skin felt tighter, it wasn’t uncomfortable. My features looked tighter and more evened out.
When you apply Guerlain L’Or, you get the most gorgeous satin-like feel to your skin. Foundation applies on top of it perfectly and my makeup stayed looking immaculate all day and even into the night. If you have normal to dry skin, then you’re going to love this. I can’t see it being too great if you have an oily complexion though. I still can’t believe how good this makes my skin look and feel and I wish I’d had this in my life sooner.
One other thing were mentioning, is how lovely Guerlain L’Or smells. I can be really fussy with how skincare and beauty products smell, and normally I prefer them to not be perfumed. This is one exception I will happily make.
I’ll leave it to Guerlain to describe the scent as they do it so much better than I ever could:
The first peach note blended with an accord of vegetal notes is fresh and sparkling. The rose, raspberry and jasmine heart is enriched with a powdery base if balsamic, benzoin and white musk.
I’ve been testing out a few primers recently and hands down, this one has to be my favourite. A 30ml bottle costs £47.00 and you can pick it up at Debenhams as well as other retailers.
