You know you have too many blog posts to write when you’ve had some photos sat on your computer for over a month waiting for you to write the review for the products. This is what happened with the MAC Nutcracker range. However, better late than never, and I’ve had a good play with the products for the last few weeks, so I am finally getting around to writing this up. Seriously, my backlog of reviews to write is actually overwhelming at the moment, so bear with me my lovelies.
“Leap into a magical land that’s a bit nutty, a little naughty, bursting with whimsy. Lose yourself in an eccentric kingdom of oversized treats and rosy cheeked nutcrackers. Twist, turn and tumble deeper into the Land of the Dolls. Our story has only begun …”
The MAC Nutcracker Sweet range is MAC’s Holiday collection for 2016, and whilst a lot of it has sold out now (including Whisper of Gilt which I need so badly), there are still some pieces available. With fuchsia and burgundy packaging with gold accents, strips, and spots, this is a bright and cheerful collection that will add a bit of colour to your makeup stash. I didn’t manage to get everything that I wanted, but I did get a few pieces that are just lovely.
MAC NUTCRACKER SWEET LIPSTICK – LEAP OF DELIGHT – £17.00
This deep plum / purple matte lipstick is so far out of my comfort zine, but I just couldn’t resist the prettiness of it. It wears really comfortably and doesn’t feel too drying (there’s a slight dryness to it, but not too much). I am trying to be a little bit bolder with my lip choices, so I am going to embrace the purpleness and wear this on days when the World needs to feel a little brighter.
MAC NUTCRACKER SWEET PEACH FACE COMPACT – £29.00
As I couldn’t get my hands on Whisper of Gilt, I bought the Sweet Peach Face compact instead, which really is lovely. The Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Tutu is a beautiful pale white peach, that is so pigmented, and the Extra Dimension Blush in At Dusk is a gorgeous warm rose that gives a nice warmth to the cheeks.
MAC NUTCRACKER SWEET PIGMENT – ROSE – £16.00
I am a recent convert to the world of loose pigments, but when I saw this colour, I knew that it had to be mine. The shade is Rose and it has copper sparkle running through it, and my word is it pretty.
MAC NUTCRACKER SWEET BRONZE PIGMENTS & GLITTER KIT – £26.00
As I loved the Rose pigment so much, I decided to get this cute little kit of mini pigments. I’ve been using these over the past month or so and I love them. They certainly add a bit of life to some of my eye looks. Shades include:
Sugar Rush – pale peach pigment
Stardream – metallic nude peach pigment
Handsome Prince – warm bronze pigment
Reigning Riches – copper glitter
MAC NUTCRACKER SWEET SMOKY EYE COMPACT – £29.00
I can’t resist an eyeshadow palette, and smoky eyes are my favourite, so I picked up this palette. The pigment isn’t amazing, but I don’t find MAC shadows to be that pigmented, but the shades are lovely. There are 9 shadows in shades of smoky dark cocoa and it has been great for creating a fairly neutral smoke.
Too-dle-do – light warm beige frost
Deception – cool medium brown frost
Sweet Dreams – warm midtone stone matte
Kid – beige cashmere veluxe
Dewdrop – bright apricot lustre
Cake & Biscuits – soft peachy brown matte
Swiss Chocolate – muted reddish brown matte
Dance In The Dark – deep cool brown matte
Licorice Lane – deep blackened brown matte
MAC NUTCRACKER SWEET ESSENTIAL BRUSH KIT – £29.00
Last but not least, I picked up this mini brush set. Now I’m not a fan of mini brushes, but these looked cute, so I thought I would give them a try. The kit contains the following brushes:
167SE Face Blender Brush
217SE Blending Brush
266SE Small Angle Brush
