I have been after a MAC x 15 palette for ages, but £65.00 is a lot of money. When I saw that the Cool Neutral palette had been reduced down to £49.50 a few weeks ago, I knew I had to buy it. I have been playing around with this for around a month now, and I’m ready to share my views.
MAC describe the MAC x 15 Cool Neutral palette as:
A carefully selected palette of 15 cool shades that can create endless looks. Highly pigmented powder applies evenly and blends well. Can be used wet or dry.
I’m going to work down each column of three from left to right (some of the shades are very pale and did not swatch well).
FLOUNCE – chalky white pink matte
PICK ME UP – pale ivory matte
SILVER FOG – white lustre with silver pearl
SWEET ALLURE – soft light pink satin
COZY GREY – cool grey matte
FRENCH CLAY – white grey frost
SUN TWEAKED – soft coral frost
CRUSTED CLOVE – dirty gold olive frost
CUMULUS – dirty grey charcoal frost
AFTER DUSK – mid-tonal rosy pink deluxe pearl
DECEPTION – chocolate gold frost
PEARLED EARTH – deep blue grey deluxe pearl
BLACKBERRY – muted burgundy plum/brown matte
BRUN – muted blackish brown matte
BLACK TIED – black velvet with silver sparkle
Watching the paler shades was a nightmare – they just did not want to show up on my skin at all. The darker shades are beautiful, but a lot warmer than I would have expected from a Cool palette. Some of the shades are seriously lacking in pigment, but they do blend well and stay on all day.
I am glad that I didn’t pay full price for this. It looks beautiful, but lacks slightly in performance.
