I’m trying to spread out reviews of the things I got for Christmas and today I’m sharing my thoughts on the NARSissist Loaded palette. This beauty had been on my wish list for quite a while, and I’m rather chuffed that it is now mine.
Now I never know whether we’re supposed to even talk about NARS anymore – the whole China business left a sour taste in a lot of people’s mouths, but I love their products … sorry! Well actually I’m not sorry. I’ve always used my blog to share my thoughts on many products and I’m very honest about whether I like a product or a brand. Whilst I might not necessarily agree with some of the decisions that NARS have made, I do still love their products.
I’m always going to be the girl who is more drawn to neutral palettes. I look at these girls on Instagram who are so creative and experimental with bold, bright shadows and I envy them, but I know that that’s never going to be me. Call me boring, but I prefer neutrals – I always will.
With richly-pigmented shadows that are buttery smooth (for the most part), everything about the shades in this palette speaks to me. The shimmers are amazing and are so soft and easy to work with. The mattes are a little bit dry, but they’re far from being the worst I’ve ever tried. I was impressed with how long-wearing the shadows are (I always test palettes without primer) and I was pleased with how well they blend. You can build them up nicely and layer the shades over each other.
NEWBURY STREET – white gold shimmer
WINDSOR – warm beige matte
PRIVILEGE – metallic gold
DOVER – neutral brown matte
FOIX – peach matte
CASTILLE – umber matte brown
ALNWICK – copper shimmer
BEAUMARIS – chocolate brown shimmer
SPLENDOR – pewter shimmer
VERSAILLES – bronze shimmer
MONTAILLOU – dark brown matte
REALE – black satin
Is it worth the £55.00 price tag? I’d say yes if you’re a NARS fan but it is pricey for 12 shadows. I personally love it but I do think it is a bit on the expensive side.
