Skincare excites me more than it probably should and I love finding new (to me) brands to try out. Pestle & Mortar contacted me a while ago on Instagram asking me if I wanted to test out some of their products and I’m so glad that I said yes.
Pestle & Mortar were founded by Sonia Deasy, who is a busy mother of 5. Sonia’s approach is that less is more and she’s created a wonderful range of products. I’ve really enjoyed trying these out and I’ll definitely be exploring more from them in the future. I’ve been testing these for over a month so far and I am starting to see some results from them.
My stand out product has to be the Superstar Retinoid Night Oil. I am a huge fan of night oils and retinol really works for me, so I was already sold on the idea of this before a drop even hit my face. I have been using this before bed 4 times a week and I love it.
As with all night oils, Superstar works whilst you sleep to balance oil production, reduce fine lines and pore size, stimulate collagen and refine the surface of the skin. The formula consists of 2 types of retinol in a base of cold-pressed organic and steam distilled oils. It causes no irritation to the skin and definitely leaves it looking and feeling firmer, balanced, smoother and even a bit plumper. I love it.
I love facial mists and use them throughout the day. When ever my skin feels tired, sore or dull, I spritz. I always have a bottle in the fridge as they feel so much more refreshing when they are cold, as well as bottle in my bag for when I am on the go.
Balance is a fine facial mist that is one hell of a multi-tasker. From adding hydration, sebum production, de-stressing the skin, anti-ageing …. the list goes on with what this spritz can deal with. It is now definitely in my top 3 of facial mists and trust me, I’ve tried a lot of them!
Another product that I have really enjoyed is the Recover Eye Cream. It has a lovely soft and lightweight consistency and the main active ingredient is palmitoyl tripeptide 5. This works to reduce those annoying fine lines that are starting to appear around my eyes, as well as reducing puffiness and those dreaded dark circles and it improves the texture of the delicate skin under the eyes.
I’ve been loving how nourishing this feels when I apply it and it nice and hydrating, as well as brightening the under eye area. I have been using this morning and night and my eye area definitely looks brighter and feels a lot less dry.
Life is a bit stressful at the moment (ok, it’s beyond stressful), and this has resulted in my skin having a bit of a freak out. We’ve spent a lot of time sat in hospitals which have been heated and then back out in the cold, on repeat for several days and I’ve definitely had to take extra care of my skin. This Hydrate Moisturiser has been a lifesaver and even on the days where my skin feels like it’s about to go back into meltdown mode, this has saved it.
Hydrate is soft and lightweight, and try and tetra-peptides, long with squalene, work together to give your skin all it needs. Your skin is left feeling hydrated, soothed and soft whilst it also tackles anti-ageing and stimulating collagen production. I love that it repairs damaged skin as well, as my skin has been crying out for that.
Serums are a huge part of my skincare routine so I love trying out new ones. Hyaluronic acid works well with my skin, so this one has become a new favourite. Some serums can seem a bit thick but this is nice and lightweight and fragrance-free, and it doesn’t irritate my skin at all.
The serum contains a multi-molecular hyaluronic acid along with panthenol to soften the skin. Your fine lines and wrinkles are diminished, your skin is hydrated and it feels plumper and firmer. If anti-ageing and hydration are concerns for your skin, then you need to try this.
My first experience of trying Pestle & Mortar has been so positive and I really do hope to try more from them next year.
