Fun fact for you all – I HATE coffee … with a passion. It is beyond me how anyone can find it nice, but it does do good things for your body. I was recently sent some Argan Oil, Coconut and Vanilla Coffee Scrub from Simply Argan, so I have been putting it to the test.
The Simply Argan Coffee Scrub is a gentle scrub that cares for the skin as well as removing dry and flaky skin, and improving cellulite, stretch marks and other skin conditions, whilst leaving your skin feeling silky smooth after just one use. Now, I’m not gonna lie, when I read all this, I thought that it all sounded a little too good to be true, so I have been testing it out to see if it really is as good as they say it is.
Caffeine is basically a stimulant and it stimulates the blood flow to the skin. This added stimulation is what makes this work. It is packed full of antioxidants, along with the Argan Oil, and these help to produce collagen, leaving you with plumper looking skin.
The caffeine works to stimulate dilation and circulation and this leads to the skin plumping up leaving the fibrous bands that cause cellulite appearing reduced. Now, I do have only noticed a slight improvement in my cellulite (yes, I have it – lots of it, but I have learnt to deal with it). I haven’t been using it for all that long though, only a few weeks, so I should imagine that the longer I use it for, the better it will look.
It does work really well at buffing away dry skin and leaves it feeling a lot smoother, which is much appreciated at the moment as my skin has been really dry recently.
I also have stretch marks on my tummy, as my hysterectomy resulted in me putting on a lot of weight quite quickly (I keep saying that I will go on a diet, but the Boy and I like our food, so that’s on the back burner … for now). I normally use an oil on my stretch marks, but to be honest, I doubt anything will really get rid of them, and I am OK with that. My body is covered in scars from all the surgeries that I’ve had, but I see these war wounds as more of a sign that I’ve survived a lot of crap in my life.
Anyway, back to the scrub and the stretch marks. They claim that the antioxidants, vitamins and fatty acids that this scrub contains help to restore the texture of the skin which helps to reduce the appearance of stretch marks. So far I haven’t seen any real difference, but I will keep rubbing over them in the hopes that one day they will have vanished.
Overall, as a general body scrub, this is really nice. As for the claims that it makes, the jury is still out – it certainly isn’t an overnight transformation like they claim, but I wasn’t expecting it to be. I do like how smooth it leaves my skin feeling, and that’s good enough for me.
